Shortt and Sweett!

For one night only in the Abney Park Chapel, Kate Shortt, trained cellist/pianist singer songwriter and musical anarchist combines all into her offbeat one woman show. With her observational humour combined with ‘sit down’ comedy of  impressions, and original songs, Kate invites her audiences to journey with her through melody mayhem.

Kate has entertained in cabaret/comedy venues throughout England. Festivals include; Mardis Gras for Classic FM radio/Edinburgh/Brighton/Covent Garden/and more recently Austria.

"... Ebullient cellist with wide ranging vocals..." (The stage)

... Very funny polished act and a wonderful elastic face..." (London Live Radio)

...Stomach achingly funny!...” (Fleece Jazz News - London)

…”The highlight of the evening, though, was Kate Shortt, possibly the only comedian on the planet who can make even a cello giggle. Though a talented impressionist herself, Shortt was able to extract a mind-boggling array of noises and impersonations from her cello, mimicking everything from bagpipes to a Brummie accent. Parodying Classic FM and ‘weird modern music’ along the way, Shortt’s short-and-sweet set was a delightfully funny end to a rich and varied show”… (Review from ‘Cusp Magazine’ at Kings Place London)

“…She twisted the dials of our genre sensitive minds, hopping from station to station like a pre digital radio sliding in and out of wave bands. Linear time doesn’t exist with Shortt,  she occupies a world where all becomes subject matter or music…” (Alban Low – theartofjazzblogspot)
