Monthly Litter Pick

Frequency: Every second Sunday of the month. Meet at 10am. (The next Sunday we will be litter picking is 8th February, followed by the 8th March.)

Join Abney Park Trust for a monthly litter pick.

It’s a great opportunity to meet new people and a helpful way to keep the park tidy so that everyone can enjoy the space.

Everything you need (bags, gloves, litter-pickers) are provided but it is recommended that sturdy shoes are worn.

Meeting Point:
Please meet at the first junction from the High Street entrance, up the cobbled walkway, where the path splits into three.

Grave Maintenance and Cleaning

Frequency: Every Wednesday 11am to 1pm

Join Abney Park Trust in maintaining graves in the cemetery, including Commonwealth War Graves, private graves, and graves from our walks and tours. 

Some graves are off the open path and involve walking on uneven ground. There are guidelines on how to maintain graves to ensure the longevity of their conservation. The Trust will teach you where to go, what to do, and what to use.

You must register to join these sessions. Places are limited so we need to know who is attending, and if we need to cancel for any reason, we will be able to contact you. Please contact info@abneypark.org for registration details.

Landscape Volunteering Sessions

  • Tuesday 6pm to 8pm (summer only)

  • Thursday 9.30am to 12.30pm (year round)

Abney Unearthed

Frequency: Tuesdays 10am-2pm

Join our National Lottery Heritage Funded project to re-map and research the graves at Abney. You can take part in physical work on-site or desk-based research from home. Tasks include:

  • noting details of those missing from the burial records (on site task)

  • checking grave positions (on site task)

  • researching the lives of those buried in the cemetery

  • creating content for displays, digital archives

  • creating content for the website or tours and for future researchers

Creative Volunteer Roles

Abney Park Trust is looking for videographers, photographers, designers and other types of creates to help contribute to a variety of online content, promotional material, leaflet etc. If you are interested in this please email us, perhaps with a portfolio of your work, and let us know what way you would like to contribute.

  • Walking tour guides (both historical and ecological)

  • Front of house and stewards for theatre events

  • Creative volunteer roles: videographers, photographers, and designers to help create online content, promotional materials, and leaflets.
